1940s Graupner: “The Cudgel in the Sack”

Hobby craft using a template, hand-painted on plywood, 19cm. This Brothers Grimm fairy tale is called „The Wishing-Table“ (KHM 36) but it’s got two more famous scenes, one being the Gold Ass and then the Cudgel in the Sack – all three adding to what people have always dreamt about: A ready table with good food, enough money and enough security (against thugs). A great piece of craft art what with the color scheme, the extra lines and varnish. (Graubele Graupner 5246)
