OBE, ÜBERSICHT: Der eigentliche “Original Bergischer Engel” war nach dem 2. Weltkrieg aus der Not heraus entstanden und existierte von 1945 bis 1967 (fast 25 Jahre lang); die Produktion war in Solingen-Wald. Die Entwürfe stammten alle von Johanna Gruner-Witkop (4.11.1928 – 8.3.2023). 1967 verkaufte Frau Gruner-Witkop schließlich ihre “Firma” (um sich fortan ganz ihrer Familie mit kleinen Kindern widmen zu können) an Alfred Mertens von Mertens-Kunst, was sich vor allem auf die Namensrechte, die Motivrechte und die Siebdruck-Maschinen bezog; die Produktion fand fortan im 400 km entfernten Pfullingen statt. Zu den schönsten Figuren des “originalen” Original Bergischer Engel gehört die blondlockige Schornsteinfegerin mit Kleeblatt und Hufeisen (ein Hampelmann) und das Aschenputtel mit dem O-Mund; beides sehr frühe, noch ganz handbemalte Figuren.

🇬🇧 OBE, Overview: The “first” original Bergischer Engel was created out of necessity after the Second World War and existed from 1945 to 1967 (almost 25 years); the production took place in Solingen-Wald.
