INFO Motive / Sternsinger: Manchmal findet man einen Sternträger auf den alten Kinder-Wandfiguren. Dann weiß man, welches Motiv gemeint ist: Es ist das Sternsingen am Dreikönigstag (6. Januar), wo Kinder sich als die drei heiligen Könige (traditionell genannt Caspar, Melchior und Balthasar) verkleiden und immer auch einen Sternträger dabei haben. Von Magda Heller stammt ein schöner Sternträger-Zwerg: Die frühe Version (1930er) hat einen weißen Schnee-Sockel und der Zwerg hat einen Bart. Die späte Variante stammt aus den 1960er Jahren, wurde aber später auch in späteren Jahrzehnte noch reproduziert: Ohne Sockel, aber dafür hat der Zwerg auf seinem grauen Cape schöne dicke Schneeflocken.

🇬🇧 Motives / German Carol Singers / Sternsinger: Sometimes you’ll find a star carrier on an old wood plaque. Then you know which motive is meant: The “Sternsinger”: That is the German version of the carol singers: Sternsinger = Star Singers. The caroling happens around January 6th (Epiphany = Three Kings Day). The Sternsinger children are dressed in the traditional clothes of the three kings / wise men / Magi of Bethlehem (Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar) visiting Baby Jesus and bringing presents. And there is always one „Sterntraeger“ = Star Carrier, too. Magda Heller created a beautiful Dwarf as Star Carrier: The early version (1930s) has the snow base and the gnome has a beard. The late variety is from the 1960s but was still reproduced in the following decades: without base and beard, but the Dwarf has pretty thick snowflakes on his grey cape. (11/4)
