1940s Ilse Schneider: Little Thumbling

During the war years, most of the faces were solemn, but I know many earnest Ilse Schneider wall figure faces even before World War 2. I guess she guessed what was coming. Hand-painted on wood, very delicate face features. The theme appears in one of Ilse Schneider’s books, she calls it Little Thumb / Hop-on-my-Thumb. So I won’t call it Seven Miles Boots, that had been my first guess.
