1950s RAVI-Kunst: Sailor of the “S.S. United States”

Hand-painted on plywood, 18cm. Die USL “SS USA” was a Transatlantic Passenger Liner between New York and Europe from 1951 onwards. Bremerhaven in Germany was one of the primary European destinations, and Hamburg (where RAVI-Kunst was produced) is not far away. I bought this endearing guy in the new millennium from the USA. I was told they were sold in the gift shop on board.
